Remembrance Lost

Weapon (Rapier), Very Rare (+1), requires attunement

“I used to know what I fought for. I used to know why they had to die.”

Forged from the fused chitin and curved horn of a memory-feeding insectoid, this rapier hums faintly with psychic dissonance. Its organic sheen seems to flicker subtly, as if each swing pulls fragments from the minds it strikes.

Stats and Properties:

  • +1 Rapier:
You gain a +1 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with this magic weapon.
  • Forgotten Strike:
When making multiple attacks on your turn, if this weapon is used for your final attack, you make that attack with advantage. This represents the target’s mind momentarily forgetting or failing to register the last incoming strike.
  • Ailing Afterimages:
When a creature concentrating on a spell or preparing a wind-up ability (such as charging, casting with a delay, or an ability that requires starting on one turn and finishing on another) is hit by this weapon, it makes its concentration saving throw at disadvantage. The weapon’s psychic influence disrupts their focus and sense of presence.
  • Selective Amnesia:
Once per long rest, as an action, you may target a creature you have struck within the last minute. That creature must make a DC 15 Wisdom saving throw. On a failure, you may subtly alter a minor detail of their memory from the past minute—such as the identity of a speaker, the direction someone fled, or the presence of an object or person.
The change must be specific but small. This is not an illusion or charm, but a psychic dislocation—others may notice something is off, but the target will not question the modified memory unless shown strong evidence. Creatures immune to being charmed are unaffected. This feature can not be used during combat.

Proficiency with a Rapier allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.

This weapon has the following mastery property. To use this property, you must have a feature that lets you use it.

Vex. If you hit a creature with this weapon and deal damage to the creature, you have Advantage on your next attack roll against that creature before the end of your next turn.
