Adder Nyâalkosh commands attention wherever he goes, adorned in long, opulent robes with vibrant patterns that resemble stained glass windows. His magnetic presence and extraordinarily relaxed, confident demeanor make him impossible to ignore.
As the second son of The King and Queen of Nyâal, Adder seemed destined for a life of luxury and ease. His parents, Kafelia and Ravogar, were overjoyed at having another male heir - their noble house placed immense value on continuing the bloodline through sons. However, a peculiar circumstance set Adder apart from his brother Ardhall and their royal lineage: while they were all blue dragonborn, Adder was inexplicably purple.
Initially, his parents remained patient about his unusual coloring, dismissing it as an infantile trait that would surely develop into the proper hue. But when Adder failed to produce the characteristic blue sparks typical of infant dragonborn, questions arose, and his parentsâ patience began to wear thin.
By Adderâs tenth birthday, with his scales still stubbornly purple, his parents could no longer tolerate what they viewed as an âembarrassment.â They publicly disowned him, spreading rumors of a powerful curse. The citizens of Nyâal, fearing this supposed curse might spread, turned against the young dragonborn and banished him from the city.
Alone at just ten years old, Adder took to the road in search of shelter in another city. Small villages proved unwelcoming to the purple dragonborn youth, forcing him to rely on illusions and magic to survive. He developed considerable skill in deception, persuasion, and performance, using street magic and illusions - and occasionally trickery - to secure food and shelter.
His fortunes changed when a traveling circus recruiter, impressed by one of Adderâs performances, offered him steady work and regular meals. He spent several years with the circus as a magic act, though his resentment toward his family and hometown continued to simmer.
Now, Adder roams the roads, driven by a burning desire to prove himself worthy of the Nyâalkosh name. He accepts any adventure or opportunity that might build his reputation and bring him the notoriety he seeks, determined to show his worth to his parents and Ardhall, despite their rejection.
