“What are you even looking for”

Wondrous Item (compass), cursed (requires attunement)

This small, dingy, and worn metal compass lacks cardinal directions inscribed on it. Instead, it simply points, seemingly with a mind of its own. The Crass Compass is cursed, leading its bearer to unexpected and often perilous destinations. While attuned to The Crass Compass, you gain the following benefits and drawbacks:

  • Consult the Compass: Once per day you may consult the compass.

Benefits:

  • Wayward Guidance: The compass points toward the location of a significant event, object, or creature that could have a meaningful impact on the attuned creature’s fate. However, the nature of the guidance is ambiguous and often leads to unforeseen consequences.

  • Ramblers Resilience: The bearer gains advantage on saving throws against anything that would change their position

  • I’m Already Lost: The bearer can add 10 to the roll of a teleport spell.

Drawbacks:

  • Capricious Guidance: The Crass Compass doesn’t always lead to the safest or most logical destination. The DM determines the target or direction the compass points toward, and it might lead the attuned creature into dangerous situations, traps, or hostile environments.

  • Deceptive Needle: The compass occasionally points in the opposite direction of the intended location or provides misleading guidance. This effect is especially pronounced when the attuned creature is in a hurry or under duress.

  • Tangled Destiny: The attuned creature experiences strange twists of fate. Once per day, the DM can introduce a minor complication or twist of fate related to the bearer’s current situation, reflecting the unpredictable nature of The Crass Compass.

Curse: Once attuned, The Crass Compass cannot be unattuned or removed by normal means. A remove curse spell cast at 5th level or higher is required to break the compass’s magical bond.
