Title: The Languid Lich
Date: 1/5/2025
Locations: Corpsestone Mountain
Characters: Da Lo Lensky
Groups: The Coven of the Maw
Session Summary
- By killing the fleshy pillar, we have opened several tunnels in the fleshy area
- Found a necrotic whip as a tendril inside the pillar - Strand of Atrophy
- Many of the tunnels eventually shrink into small and tight passages, except one where the temperature matches the outside
- After more travelling, about 60 feet above us is a large wound which marks an exit to the surface
- Touching this wound feels like another mind touching yours, it may be overwhelming to climb the brain of this creature
- Upon climbing the creature, the party is assaulted with visions from the creatureās memory
- This creature landed in a crater in the world and commanded to wreak destruction on this world. Hills and mountains are like shrubs - empires and cities crumble. Approach a city where men take up arms and gods die underneath (likely Carcosa, it looks familiar). The creature crawls to a place to die. A leech makes a home on its grave (Da Lo Lensky), sucking the remaining life from the creature.
- The air is cold and brisk
- The party then makes its way up the shattered skull cap, we climb until we break through the clouds, on a small island in the clouds and see a massive sea of clouds and a tall tower made of rotted bone atop the creature
- The foyer in the tower is well decorated and nice - the entrance closed behind and another opened further in the tower
- An area is decorated like a dining room, but with no table - a table and chairs descend from the darkened ceiling
- The lich meets us and we sit for a discussion over food, his name is Da La Lensky
- āAbominationā - Molescere states as he sees the lich
- The creature has been here almost longer than the lich
- THe lich will only last as long as the large creature still has life, came shortly after The Age of Apostesy.
- Etron mentions his thirst for knowledge, vestiges are remnants of the vessels which gods used to walk among us - he recommends striking a bargain while I have the chance
- It is not possible for a lich to sustain themself off of vessels, or the fluid found in vessels; Da Lo Lensky confirms that The Gold Liquid is something akin to a soul.
- Da Lo Lensky was born around here, over 9,000 years ago. When he was a child 2 or 3 centuries after The Age of Apostesy, the world was a wreck. He traveled with a friend - a woman, Nara who was studying the land, they also met The Tattered Traveler who traveled with them, who was a true lich. He helped them become liches. Da Lo Lensky told us a story of Carcosa, and a temple dedicated to the gold of The Gilded Elves - the true lich became angry upon seeing it and told Nara and Da Lo Lensky he wished never to see them again.
- Told to deliver a box to Nara in The Great Ridge in the far north, if she has passed we may keep it.
- He has also extended the lesson of spell weaving
- Knows little of the Yellow King
- False liches were far more common pre-The Age of Apostesy
- Da Lo Lensky teleports us back to The Barge
- Leave the corpse beast
- Take watch on an Island we moor at - feels as we are being watched
- Next day uneventful, as the night ends we smell the sea, about only a day away
- The following night, the hags came to default on their bargain. When we refused to offer up something of great importance to us (they feed on despair), they attacked; The Blackstars were victorious. It is likely The Coven of the Maw intended for us to fight Da Lo Lensky and perish at his hand, such that they could consume the despair produced.
